You Can Now Use AI Technology to Easily List and Publish Items for Sale!
Selling on Karrot is as easy as 1, 2, 3!
- Step #1: Download Karrot (available for both Apple and Android)
- Step #2: Once downloaded, Karrot will prompt you to verify your location. Once location is verified, you’re all set to buy & sell!
- Step #3: Open Karrot and you’ll immediately see a “sell” button at the bottom of the screen.
- Step #4: Click “sell” and a new listing page will open automatically.
- Step #5: Before uploading photos of the item you would like to sell, make sure you click (see above) “easy posting with AI” to activate Karrot’s latest feature.
- Step #6: After uploading the photos you’d like to include (I suggest as many as you can, so that AI has as much information as possible!) review what AI writes for the auto populated title and description. AI will also choose a category and brand name, plus other pertinent information, depending on the item selected to sell. AI will also suggest prices to sell the item. If you want to make changes, you can! The AI’s technology integration is always optional, and users can edit accordingly.
- Step #7: After making your preferred edits, go ahead and list! Your item will be live and you are able to receive messages from interested buyers immediately.
Note: In case you’d rather pen your own titles and descriptions, the feature is completely optional. But as you’ll read shortly in this article, I suggest always using the AI feature and then when applicable, adding in your text or making small corrections to the AI text.

I don’t know about you, but when I log onto other buy/sell marketplaces I am always a little nervous about who I’m going to be interacting with. Do they actually own the item they’re selling? Do they actually live “near me?” How are we going to hand off the money? Can I really trust this transaction?

Example #1: How AI Evaluated a Vintage 1970s Air Force Jacket
What I have to sell: 1970s men’s Air Force Bomber Jacket in excellent condition.
AI Title: Men’s Blue Bomber Jacket with Patches
AI Description: The jacket is a blue bomber jacket with several patches, including an eagle patch, a “U.S. Air Force” patch, a “California” patch, and a “Carter Honor Flight” patch. It has a faux fur collar.
Suggested Price: $100-$150. This is spot on, considering this is a vintage item that is a collector’s piece. I was impressed to see this suggested price! I would probably list this item closer to $150 to start.
How accurate on a scale of 1-10? This is a SOLID 8!!! Honestly, the most important part that AI missed was that this is a vintage 1970s U.S. Air Force jacket. I’m surprised that AI missed this fact since there are so many listings of this exact jacket on the internet. But those are easy facts to input into the title and description myself.
How could I make the title / description even more accurate? I would change the title to read “1970s U.S. Air Force Blue Bomber Jacket with Patches and Faux Fur Collar.” I would consider including a size, which in this case would be medium. I would then add U.S. Air Force and 1970s to the description and my own measurements for chest and length of jacket / sleeves. Besides that, it’s perfect!
Example #2: How AI Evaluated a 1960s Dance Costume for Stage
What I have to sell: 1960s Vintage Stage Dancer Outfit – in a very tiny size!
AI Title: White and Gold Sequined Dance Costume
AI Description: White and gold sequined dance costume with a large orange bow in the back. The costume has straps and is sleeveless. It has a white skirt with gold trim and sequins. There are rhinestones on the bodice. The costume also has a large orange bow in the back.
How accurate on a scale of 1-10? Wowza!! Honestly, I’m leaning toward a 9 on this one. As mentioned in previous examples, AI is just missing the fact that this is a vintage 1960s dance costume. Otherwise it’s spot on. The fact that it mentioned the orange bow in the back is because I gave AI multiple photos to reference. If I took more photos and uploaded for auto population of the title and description, I might even have more details thanks to the power of AI. It’s fantastic that AI picked up on the fact that this is a dance costume (ding, ding, ding correct!) as well as colors and sequins.
How could I make the title / description even more accurate? I would change the title to read “1960s Vintage White and Gold Sequined Dance Costume – Size XS.” AI can’t know what the size is, so it’s important that us humans make mention of the size. I would also include the exact measurements in the description, including bust, waist, length and hips.
Example #3: How AI Evaluated a US Army Camouflage Field Jacket
What I have to sell: A U.S. Army camo field jacket. This is presumably vintage, but I’m unsure of the era.
AI Title: Camouflage Jacket
AI Description: A camouflage jacket with a patch that says “YMA 2.0” The jacket has a zipper and buttons. There are two pockets on the front and a pocket on the inside. The jacket is in good condition.
How accurate on a scale of 1-10? I’d give this one about a 7! I laughed out loud when I noticed AI picked up on the “U.S. Army” patch text … but in REVERSE! It wrote YMA 2.0 which is what U.S. Army looks like with this photo. If I had uploaded more specific photos of close ups of the pockets, the patches, the inside zippers and drawstrings, I know that AI would have better populated the specifics of this item. Plus, with more photos, AI would have known to include “U.S. Army Camouflage Jacket” in the title.
How could I make the title / description even more accurate? The title should read “Vintage U.S. Army Camouflage Jacket size L Women’s” and the description should include size, correct mention of U.S. Army on the patch, and exact measurements of the jacket length, bust, waist and arms. I would also mention that this is an unknown era vintage U.S. Army jacket. AI noted that it’s in great condition which – yes! It is! What the title/description needs more of are specifics which with more photos uploaded initially, I’m confident AI would have been able to decipher and include in its automatic text.
