As a native New Yorker, what do you remember most about the fashion of the city growing up? 

Growing up in Brooklyn, I remember an aesthetic that was effortlessly cool, vibrant, edgy, rebellious in nature but steeped in style and grace. There was a sense of pride in being an individual who was resourceful, had fun with fashion but remained down to earth. I’m actually happy to see some of the 90s nostalgia coming back and brands I grew up with like Echo, Coogi, Fubu, Fat Albert and Baby Phat making a comeback. 

How have you learned to manage a clients wish list with “what you actually find”?

It’s good to have an idea of what you would like to find however, I try to remind clients to be open to the experience of thrifting also known as treasure hunting because often times you end up finding something that you never knew you wanted and now can’t live without … and that’s part of the thrill of thrifting because you never know what you’re gonna find. 

Tell us about your favorite find on a tour for a client?

Balenciaga genuine leather platform thigh high boots for $90.. and it wasn’t so much the item than it was the reaction of the shopper who found them.. she was celebrating her 16th Birthday in the Big City and I just remember how happy she was and witnessing that pure joy is a reminder of why I love secondhand shopping.

How do you describe your styling philosophy?

Structured freedom.. in every moment being able to choose how I want to show up in the world while having the freedom to explore, discover, play and express that which is within and can’t be described with words alone turns the everyday mundane into a living moving art form

If you could encourage your shoppers to feel one way when shopping, how would you encouragement them?

To have fun and be open to being a new version of themselves in every moment.

How are you currently inspired to dress?

I love the balance of mixing masculine and feminine pieces together to create contrasting harmony. In giving myself permission to fully express aspects of the Self without limitations around tradition or gender roles, I focus on wearing what makes me feel good while allowing space for growth and ever changing cycles of death and rebirth.

What should clients expect in a personal styling session with you? 

Honest feedback and curious engagement. Every client is a unique puzzle so I try to meet people where they are and connect from a place of empathy and understanding. I don’t claim to be an expert in anything, all I can do is speak from my experiences with finding my own creative voice and sense of style and how that has transformed my self esteem and life.
